Third day in a row!

This must be a record for me in my blog life. Three days in a row of stuff that is part of my life. Today was real exciting, mom and I went to the landfill to get mulch, and it was gone. So we came home and I changed then we went shopping. We actually found some good bargains, sweaters and jeans for 4-5.00! I was able to get Jim's biopsy scheduled as well as his pre-op appointment on the same day. I colored my hair, look for pictures tomorrow afternoon, and got a week or two of catering to do, so things are picking up.

New Glasses

Jim and I are off to the eye doctor. After taking a spill and crashing into the Atlantic City Convention Center, his glasses are toast. Fortunately they are due for an upgrade and new lenses (thanks to great insurance) so money won't be an issue. Hopefully, they can get the bifocal part to actually be comfortable for him. It is hard to get the right magnification at the right spot in the lens.

Behind Those Eyes

I found a book today at the store entitled Behind Those Eyes by Lisa Whittle. It caught my attention for several reasons, the most important one being, I know what I hide from the world, who else is doing this? What can we do about it, is there anyone we can trust that we can develop a deep relationship with, other than God? I am feeling led to start a women's small group, only I want this one to be different. We are in this place on earth at this time for a purpose, and I think only by uniting under Christ can we achieve His will, and nuture each other. In the book Lisa teaches us (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit) how to free ourselves from shallow interaction and practice truth as a healing agent in our relationships. We also can see our impersonations for what they really are and choose authenticity over pretense.

Friendships are valuable, and we need to make sure we are doing all we can to nuture them and help them grow. Also, we need people in our lives that won't be judgemental, and can offer biblical wisdom to us at different stages of life. If you read this and want to join, please send me a comment or an email.

Been a while, how is everyone doing?

I have been neglecting my blog, and there is really no excuse. Life is busy, but still, how hard is it to write a few lines? A lot has passed since my last post, so here is my life in a nutshell (or blogshell, if there is such a thing!).

My fantasy baseball team is in 7th place. I was in first, then third for quite a while. Injuries and the all star break conspired to drop me to 7th and so I think I am out of contention for my second paper trophy. Edie, remember the laugh we had over that when James thought we were going to get a real trophy? He was NOT impressed that it was on paper. Gosh, I am feeling better just thinking about that!

I am cruising right along in my college classes. I could become a professional student with no problem at all! Of course, I still need an algebra class, so that may change. Anyone good with formulas out there who can help me out, when I finally sign up for the class? Thanks in advance!

I am gearing up to teach the young adult Sunday School class in the fall. My term as a deaconess will be over and I feel like the Lord is leading me to this position. One thing I have learned is to not do anything unless He is calling you, otherwise it is a mess.

The dogs are good, check out their dog book on my face book page. The cat is enjoying life as well, they just eat and sleep with the occasional walk thrown in for fun. They are such amazing dogs, and I miss them when I am not home.

Stephanie is hard at work at the Social Security office in Winchester. She is able to use her Spanish some and she finally quit the other two jobs so this is her first weekend "off" in a while. Of course, she is dog sitting, so she really is still working, though it is mainly fun for her in this capacity.

Jim is hanging in there. We were at Johns Hopkins on Friday for a consult with the endocrinologist. He will have surgery there on August 19, as well as some more tests coming up to determine if the thyroid needs to be removed as well. All prayers are gratefully accepted because financially we are still strapped. I cling to the promise of God that "all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose." God is also "exceedingly abundantly" able to do so much more than we can envision.

I will end this entry with the promise to myself, and all my fans who wait with baited breath, to faithfully update my blogspot so it won't wither up and die! Thanks for reading, feel free to comment. If I don't know you, I won't post it! :-)

I am an idiot

After I posted the previous page, I saw the entry about my fantasy baseball draft. I got an awesome team! I am in first place with 84.5 points, closest competitor is 64 points, and I am 3-0 in Power Locks! I love this time of year!!

Reality Check

Life became interesting about 8 weeks ago when Jim lost his job. Now I am doing all I can to keep from wondering what next. I am in the process of renewing my LPN so I can look for jobs in a recession proof field. There are lots of possiblities out there. I am also very excited about my UNV 200 class, the last two papers I did I scored 100% on. It is nice to be on spring break and have some time to catch up on a lot of things, such as laundry, bathrooms, vacuuming, etc. I even swept the floor and vacuumed the stairs. Got company coming and I want everything ship shape. I need to boil some eggs so Sophie can color them, I haven't bought egg dye in years. I wonder if my kids want an Easter basket, I'll ask. I was able to mail Leslie's package but doubt she will get it until next week. Better late than never, I always say.

Went with Mom and Dad to take pictures of Mia Toya to send to Leslie. Not bad for an amateur, in my humble opinion.

Here I go again!

I'm playing Fantasy Baseball again. I got the invite from Commisioner Edie and I couldn't help it. I started getting sweaty and panicky at the thought of not playing. That sounds stupid, but there it is. I am an addict, because I can't quit. :-) Maybe I'll play better this year...
